Building a better Wales – Labour’s policies for taking Wales forward
Labour is working with the people of Wales to build a country that is successful, confident, and ambitious. You can download our full manifesto for the 2007 National Assembly Election here, and or alternatively can look through our mini-manifesto below that contains policy ideas that will help build Wales and make it a better place for all to live in.
The Welsh economy now has strong foundations in place for future success. Since 1999, Wales has seen the biggest drop in unemployment of any part of the United Kingdom and a rise of 130,000 in the total number of new jobs. We will now take action to step up this rate of success in the years ahead, with science, technology and research to the fore.
Our children are our future. Our investment in education has resulted in the highest ever level of achievement in schools – we will ensure that we have the skills for success in the future. We will take action to eradicate child poverty by 2020.
In Wales, people are living longer and are healthier than ever before. We will take action to ensure even better standards of health and health care, and drive forward policies to make sure that our children have the healthiest possible start to life.
People in Wales take pride in their towns, villages and communities. We will take action to remove litter, graffiti and signs of neglect; and make all our streets safe for all our citizens.
Labour will meet head on the challenge of climate change, building a sustainable, cleaner and greener Wales.
